Black patients with hypertension and diabetes and no CKD should be treated initially with thiazide-type diuretics or CCBs alone or in combination.
Non-Black patients with hypertension and diabetes and no CKD, are candidates for the same starting therapies but with expanded options to include ACE-Is or ARBs
