لانه إذا تم إعطاء Imipenam فقط
يحدث له تكسر عن طريق إنزيم Dehydropeptidase
في الكلية ويتحول الى مركب سام
لذلك يتم خلطه مع
Cilastatin
لانه هذا الدواء يثبط الانزيم الذي يكسر الimipenam ويحوله الى مركب سام كلويا
ويعملNephrotoxic
