حساسية العين من أمراض العيون المنتشرة بشكل كبير جداً بين الناس، لها تأثير كبير في قدرة الإنسان على الرؤية، لأن حساسية خلايا العين نحو كافة التغيرات من الممكن أن تحدث فيها، وتحدث الحساسية بسبب تفاعل المحسسات أو المواد الموجودة في البيئة الخارجية مع ملتحمة العين، مما يؤدي إلى إفراز مادة الهستامين والعديد من المواد الكيميائية التي تعمل على زيادة تهيج العين من قبل الخلايا البدينة الموجودة في الجسم، وتزداد الإصابة بحساسية العين خلال فصلي الصيف والربيع بسبب الأجواء المغبرّة وطلع الأشجار والأتربة، أسباب حساسية العين التهاب حدقة العين. السهر الطويل. زيادة التعرق على وجه الخصوص في فصل الصيف بسبب ارتفاع درجات الحرارة. التعرض لعوادم السيارات والملوثات الهوائية. التعرض للأتربة والغبار الشديد. دخول بعض الأجسام إلى العين، مما يؤدي إلى احمرار العين. أعراض حساسية العين احمرار العين. الحرقة في العين مع الشعور بالحكة. انتفاخ في الجفون. زيادة الإفرازات الدمعية بشكل كبير، وعدم القدرة على السيطرة على تساقطها. حساسية تجاه الضوء على وجه الخصوص عند تعرض العين له بشكل مفاجئ. الشعور بوجود بعض الأجسام الغريبة داخل العين. الشعور بجفاف العين. إفراز مواد لبنية اللون من قبل العين تظهر على الجانبين. عدم وضوح وتشوّش في الرؤية.
